This is literally my exact question. Did you ever find an answer?

We have two sites which we are unable to edit right now because the page builders are not working. One has the “Visual Composer” option in the left sidebar. On this site everything references “Visual Composer” and VC branding. However, in the plugins list it is called “WP Bakery Visual Composer”. This one we need to update, but when we “activate” the WP Bakery license it doesn’t fix anything but it does change everything to reference “WP Bakery” instead of “Visual Composer”.

The other site uses a theme (Unicon) was purchased before my time and so I am not sure which is the correct page builder for it – but assumed “WP Bakery” was correct because everything says “WP Bakery Visual Composer” just like the first website I mentioned. So we purchased a license, updated the plugin, and it still does not allow us to edit or add content using the page builder.

We just purchased WP Bakery license for both sites because I was under the impression both sites us WP Bakery and not Visual Composer. Neither site every had “theme editing” capabilities, and both sites’ plugin areas describe “WP Bakery”. So my questions are:
– How do we know which site needs which plugin? This way we can ensure to get the correct license and update the correct thing.
– Is it possible both sites should be using Visual Composer and not WP Bakery?
– Can we get refunded if need Visual Composer instead of WP Bakery?

I have a client who is trying to revive a site that’s been down before the update and has the old VC bundled with a theme he got from envato (Theme name: NT Agricom). Is there any way I can update the old VC to the new wpbakery as the site was basically built with shortcodes and my client wants to avoid rebuilding the site altogether.

Hi, Arthur,

At the moment there’s no way to automatically convert WPB layouts into the new Visual Composer Website Builder, but it is definitely on our radar.

Thanks, Max. Yes, indeed, there was an option to start with a new brand. At the same time, we were thinking of migration tool from the WPBakery Page Builder to the Visual Composer Website Builder at some point. We still have this idea but are facing some tough technical issues – mainly due to the number of add-ons and third-party changes.

Will see how it works out, but I guess we just need to work hard on making Visual Composer Website Builder better and better and help people to understand the difference.

We wanted Visual Composer Website Builder to be a world-class product with unparalleled support. That meant assembling a much larger and better team of developers and support people (we’re still adding people to the team as we speak). We simply could not achieve this with a lifetime license model. That’s why we switched, not because we’re greedy. 🙂

Thank you, Zach, for the “to the point” feedback. Of course, it’s planned and I miss that option too.

The thing I’m really missing is a way to see the elements of Premium in action. I think you guys are missing out here. Right now I can only read about this. I would think a preview site where you showcase this would a lot better as a customer and for your sales. This is one of the great things with the envato sites like codecanyon. Even I who have VC Premium would appreciate this. Then I could check out the new elements like a user without having to create a test site and do “all the work”.
